Ashton Woods Begins Development of Aria

Groundbreaking to Begin on New Mixed-Use Village with City Park in Sandy Springs

ATLANTA -  Ashton Woods, one of the nation’s largest private homebuilders, today announced it will begin initial groundbreaking efforts on its newest community in Atlanta. Work will commence on the northern 47-acre portion of the Aria neighborhood on Abernathy Road in Sandy Springs, Georgia. 

Named to reflect a harmonious live, work and play environment, Aria will feature a mixed-use village of lofts, townhomes and single-family homes surrounded by a neighborhood of retail shops, restaurants and significant outdoor green space and parks.

“We chose the name Aria to unify the community’s design concept of bringing nature and urban life together into a living symphony,” said Mike Busher, senior vice president of Ashton Woods Atlanta. “Our vision is to create a village ringed by trees, all in a pedestrian friendly environment.”

Artistic renderings illustrate pools, green spaces and other amenities along with a community of local businesses in an environment connected by tree-lined sidewalks. Homeowners and visitors will be welcomed by a picturesque pond at the entrance of the property. 

Ashton Woods will be dedicating a portion of the Aria property to the City of Sandy Springs to be used as a public park, complete with walkways, trails and areas to enjoy the natural landscape. 

“The Sandy Springs Conservancy is excited to learn that construction will soon begin at the Glenridge property,” said Steve Levetan, chairman of the board at the Conservancy. “The development signals the start of a process that will ultimately conclude with Ashton Woods’ dedication of significant parkland to the city.” 

Groundbreaking work will begin within the 47 acres of land located north of Abernathy Road. Upon its completion, Aria will consist of approximately 100 acres, 29 of which are south of Abernathy Road between Glenridge Drive and Barfield Road, and 25 acres located west of Glenridge Drive.  Mercedes-Benz USA previously announced that its headquarters will be built on the south side of the property.
